CHEK2 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that coordinates cellular responses to DNA double-strand breaks by activating cell cycle arrest, DNA repair, and apoptosis. It phosphorylates effectors and inhibits CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C, thereby enhancing CDK cyclin inhibition and cell cycle arrest.
