Cremophor EL-36 is a nonionic surfactant, mainly used as a solubilizing carrier for poorly soluble Paclitaxel. The functions of Cremophor EL-36 include: 1) affecting pharmacokinetics by encapsulating drugs in micelles, changing drug distribution and clearance; 2) activating the complement system and inducing allergic reactions; 3) binding to lipoproteins and interfering with lipid metabolism. Cremophor EL-36 increases drug solubility through micellization, while mediating toxicity through complement activation and lipoprotein interactions[1][2].
