The IL-18BP protein is an inhibitor of IL-18, which binds to IL-18 and prevents IL-18 from binding to its receptor, thereby inhibiting IL-18-induced IFN-γ production. IL-18BP protein is constitutively expressed and secreted in monocytes. IFN-γ can enhance the expression of this protein.
