The NHP2 protein is essential for ribosome biogenesis and telomere maintenance and is a key component of the H/ACA small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (H/ACA snoRNP) complex. In this complex, NHP2 catalyzes pseudouridylation of rRNA by isomerizing uridine, thereby stabilizing the rRNA conformation with up to 100 pseudouridine residues.
