The OXSR1 protein is a key serine/threonine protein kinase in the WNK-SPAK/OSR1 cascade, regulating ion transport, hyperosmotic stress response, and blood pressure. Downstream of WNK kinase, OXSR1 phosphorylates ion cotransporters such as SLC12A1/NKCC2, SLC12A2/NKCC1, and SLC12A3/NCC, regulating their activity.
