The UBE2F protein accepts NEDD8 from the UBA3-NAE1 E1 complex and covalently links it to various target proteins in the ubiquitin-like NEDD8 conjugation pathway. The RBX2-UBE2F complex specifically interacts with the E3 ubiquitin ligase RBX2, but not RBX1, for the neddylation of specific targets, especially CUL5.
