D-Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate is involved in the biosynthesis of tryptophan and thiamin. D-Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate is released as aldehyde by aldolase or triose phosphate isomerase. D-Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate forms adducts with thiols[1][2][3].
