Chemotaxis Inhibitory Protein (CIP) strategically counters the host defense mechanisms, inhibiting reactions of human neutrophils and monocytes to complement anaphylatoxin C5a and fMLP. As a molecular sentinel, CIP directly engages with C5aR and FPR, obstructing calcium responses induced by C5a and fMLP. In this tactical intervention, CIP acts as a guardian, finessefully thwarting bacterium phagocytosis.
